Roger Williams: The bloody Tenet of Persecution for Cause of Conscience summary

For our homework I chose Roger Williams because it is a very interesting passage.

Roger Williams did not stay in a specific religion first he was an Anglican,Puritan, and he founded the Baptist Church of America. While in England he published The Bloody Tenet of Persecution for the cause of Conscience. Roger Williams beliefs were that everyone being religious or not had a right to there own religious liberty. Also Williams believes that government does not have a right to put religious laws. Williams hated the hypocrisy of the Christians they were preaching peace but would use violence to force other to believe there beliefs. Williams was pointing out how the laws would favor one religion and not the others.
